The Brief
FeelThis is a wellness brand centered on sensory experiences — products designed to engage touch, scent, and mindfulness. Their website couldn't just describe these experiences; it needed to evoke them digitally. Every interaction, every transition, every color choice had to contribute to a feeling of calm intentionality.
The challenge was creating an immersive sensory experience within the constraints of a web browser — no VR, no custom hardware, just thoughtful design that makes visitors slow down and engage rather than skim and bounce.
Discovery & Strategy
Sensory Design Research
We studied how luxury spa brands, meditation apps, and high-end fragrance houses design their digital experiences. The common thread: slower pace. Wellness digital experiences succeed when they resist the internet's default urgency — slower animations, more whitespace, gentler transitions, muted palettes.
We mapped the visitor experience to mirror the product experience: arrival should feel like entering a quiet space, browsing should feel unhurried, and purchase should feel like a considered choice rather than an impulse.
Design Approach
Ambient Design Language
The visual system uses soft, warm tones derived from natural materials — stone, clay, linen, moss. Typography is elegant and widely spaced. Animations are deliberately slow — elements fade in over 800ms instead of the typical 300ms, scroll parallax moves at 0.3x speed instead of 0.5x, and hover states transition over 400ms.
These timing choices are intentional and systematic: every animation duration is a multiple of 200ms, creating a consistent rhythmic feel that subconsciously communicates care and intentionality.
Development & Build
Performance Paradox
Slow-feeling animations still need fast-loading pages. We optimized every asset: images in AVIF with WebP fallback, fonts subsetted to only the characters used, CSS animations on GPU-accelerated properties only. The result is a site that feels serene and unhurried but actually loads faster than most competitors' sites.
The product CMS supports rich content — ingredient stories, usage rituals, sensory descriptions — giving FeelThis the tools to sell through storytelling rather than specification.
Results & Impact
Brand Resonance
The website became an extension of the product experience. Visitors spent significantly more time on the site compared to industry benchmarks — not because they were confused, but because the experience rewarded slow browsing. The ambient design approach aligned perfectly with FeelThis's brand values, creating consistency from digital to physical touchpoint.
