About the check
What does the AI visibility check look at?
Nine things on the page you enter: whether it loads for crawlers; whether robots.txt lets in the AI search crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot) and Google and Bing; whether the text is in the HTML without JavaScript; the title and meta description; Organization structured data; a sitemap; and an llms.txt file.
Why does content without JavaScript matter for AI search?
Google renders JavaScript, but most AI crawlers read only the HTML the server sends. If your text appears only after scripts run, an assistant may see an empty page and skip you. Static or server-rendered pages fix it.
Should I block GPTBot or ClaudeBot?
That’s a business choice. They collect training data. Blocking them doesn’t remove you from ChatGPT or Claude answers, which use separate search crawlers (OAI-SearchBot, Claude-SearchBot). Block those and you disappear from their answers.
Do I need an llms.txt file?
No. It’s a proposal, not a standard, and Google says you don’t need it for AI Overviews. It’s a cheap way to give AI agents a clean summary of your company, so we publish one and recommend it as an extra.
Do you keep the address I check?
We keep the address you checked and its result, so we can see which sites get checked, improve the tool and understand interest in our services. Nothing about you: no email, no IP address, no cookies, and the record isn’t linked to your visit. We delete these records after 12 months.
