A redesign done at the right moment compounds for years. Done badly, it burns a quarter of pipeline and years of SEO equity in one deploy. This is the checklist we run before, during, and after every B2B redesign, including the part most redesigns skip: protecting what already ranks.

How to know it is time

  • The site no longer matches what you sell. Positioning moved, the site did not.

  • Marketing cannot ship. Every page needs a developer, so campaigns stall.

  • The design reads a generation old next to the product, and buyers notice.

  • Performance drags: slow load, poor mobile behavior, failing Core Web Vitals.

  • Traffic grows but conversions do not. Structure, not luck, converts traffic.

Two or more of those and the redesign pays for itself. One, and a targeted fix is usually cheaper.

Before: the audit that saves your rankings

  • Crawl the current site and export every URL that gets impressions or backlinks.

  • Record every page title and meta description that ranks. They are assets.

  • Map old URLs to new ones, one to one, before any design work starts.

  • Benchmark current speed and conversion numbers so after has a before.

During: scope that prevents rebuild number three

  • Positioning first: headline and page structure follow message, never the reverse.

  • Component system, not artboards: repeatable sections keep future pages cheap.

  • CMS for everything dynamic: blog, case studies, landing pages, team.

  • One clear conversion path per page with a low friction demo or contact flow.

  • Real content in design: the long headline and the two line title will happen.

After: the launch week checklist

  • 301 every mapped URL, then verify with a crawler, not by assumption.

  • Submit the new sitemap, confirm metadata and structured data render.

  • Watch Search Console for coverage errors daily for two weeks.

  • Compare conversion and speed benchmarks after thirty days.

We rebuilt Fluxora from scratch and redesigned SenseHawk on exactly this sequence, and the SEO protection half is why migrations like Cerve kept their visibility. If your current site outgrew its first version, our piece on why B2B brands outgrow their first website covers the pattern.

Common questions

When should a company redesign its website?

When the site blocks the message, the team, or the numbers: positioning drift, publishing bottlenecks, dated design, or stalled conversions.

How do I redesign without losing SEO?

URL mapping and 301s for every ranking page, preserved metadata, and equal or better page speed. It is checklist work, and skipping it is the single most expensive redesign mistake.

How long does a B2B redesign take?

Two to six weeks for most marketing sites in Framer, including migration. Scope yours in one call.
